Entre Deux Rivages
This debut release marks the beginning of a new chapter for äbädä. Across seven tracks, Eda Er and Simon Sieger explore the spaces between two shores, where distance becomes sound, and longing transforms into movement.
The story of this album began when the world grew silent. Borders closed, cities stilled, and isolation reshaped the way we connected. Separated by countries, yet bound by music, we found ourselves composing in correspondence — each track a letter, an improvisation sent across the void, and a reply shaped by the other’s voice.
What could not be spoken found its language here. The music carries fragments of confinement and desire, the quiet unrest of still rooms and restless winds. The track “Mistral” emerged from Marseille’s turbulent gusts, carrying the pulse of a city locked indoors. “Toi d’un autre rivage” speaks to longing and distance, referencing the two shores of Istanbul. When curfews were announced in France, the urgency of that moment spilled into sound, giving rise to “Curfew Dance.”
This album is more than a collection of songs — it is a conversation of emotions shaped by solitude, resilience, and presence. It exists where identity dissolves and something collective, fluid, and untamed begins to take form.
With Entre Deux Rivages, äbädä invites you into a world where sound becomes correspondence, where absence becomes dialogue, and where music builds bridges across the spaces between us.
